This year’s Proms run from 11 to 28 September, with all the concerts and the art exhibition at
St James’ Church, Prebend Street, N1 8PH.

Composure
A collaborative exhibition of artworks by Caroline Griffiths and G. King. Griffiths works mainly in water-based media and depicts still life images or local scenes. King uses the old cyanotype technique to produce prints of nature.
Open daily 10am–6pm (Sundays from 11:30am)

Celtic Notes

Music from Ireland, Scotland and beyond with an all-star Celtic quartet – fiddler James Gavin, Rita Farrell on uilleann pipes, singer-guitarist Tad Sargent and award-winning accordionist Colette O’Leary.

Youth Prom
A regular feature in the Proms programme, the Youth Prom is a showcase for Islington’s most talented young performers. The next generation of local musicians and singers present a varied programme of instrumental and vocal music.

A celebration of women’s voices. Directed by Freddie Crowley, the outstanding Corvus Consort with harpist Louise Thomson perform music by Imogen Holst, Elizabeth Poston, Judith Weir and other notable living female composers, as well as Gustav Holst and a brand new commission from Shruthi Rajasekar.

The Last Night of Our Proms​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
The festival concludes as usual with a concert by the Haydn Chamber Orchestra, this year featuring Elgar’s ever-popular Cello Concerto with soloist David Cohen (right), principal cellist with the London Symphony Orchestra, together with Arthur Sullivan’s Macbeth Overture and Poulenc’s Sinfonietta.

Fanfares and Dances
This year’s Memorial Concert in memory of Anthony Hill (former organist at St James’) is a recital by Simon Hogan of Southwark Cathedral: organ music from Bach and Schumann to Paul Spicer and Pierre Cholley, exploring the versatility and expressiveness of St James’ newly-restored organ.
